Hon Kee Cafe Coloane is located in a quiet little back street of Lai Chi Wun Village in Coloane, near the old shipbuilding yards. Hon Kee Cafe is a very special coffee spot in Macau and populated by loyal locals. They have their own unique way of making a cup of coffee—using regular instant coffee powder and mixing it with some sugar and hot water first before grinding it and adding more water, resulting in a really smooth textured coffee.
Besides their signature coffee, Hon Kee Cafe Coloane delivers high-quality simple food that is sought after by both locals and tourists, as the restaurant is included in a series of guides. Hon Kee Cafe’s preferred foods are soup noodles with egg and meat, sweet and savory sandwiches, but also bites.
Hon Kee Cafe is a sought-after venue, especially amongst locals and tourists who search for good coffee spots in Macau. Located in an old part of Coloane, right before Macau’s prison, it can be hard to spot as it’s in the middle of other small residence houses. The area is known for being, until the mid-1990s, the center of shipyards and ship making. One can still spot some of these old wreckages nearby before reaching the local restaurant.
Opening hours: Thursday–Tuesday, 8:00am–6:00pm
